Recently Removed The Root DC, Got all the roles and services transfered. And
the old DC remove from AD. Still a few registry entries pointing to the Old
Root on the remaining DCs. But AD appears fine.
Now what If I do a restore of the Old Root and bring it back online? Is it
going to try to control the current AD? Would it mess up my current AD? (I
assume so)
Just wondering as there is a Database on there we would like to access and
attempt to recover Data that was not on the Last Backup.
What I am doing is restoring it while not connected to network so that it
won't interfer. And then try to backup the data to another drive some where,
some how.
But the above Idea got me wondering what meant happen if I did not unplug
the cable. And thought I would share my thought with others and maybe get
some feed back.

Thanks jimmy, but I was not looking for a Solution.
I had already recovered and restored.
I was looking at other possilities. Like I could use this offline DC to
salvage my AD should the need arise. Like if current DC is lost and no
chance of recovery. I could Connect this old recovered DC to another server
do DCpromo and add the various services DNS, DHCP, etc.,. Then stick this
new server on to my netwok.
There will be some account changes that will be loss and mess up a few users
and WSs. But I would have most of AD back.
