Hey all I have noticed alot of people having problems
with the scanner camera wizard. It's happend to me it

a sony dsc-p31 camera using a lexar memory stick reader
and lexar memory stick of 64mb i try the thing on
http://www.bigblackglasses.com/staff/downloads/autofix.exe
it did not work and i tried going under properties
telling it to autoplay but with no avail the only thing i
get is comes usb mass storage device and windows explorer
opens up showing me the contents of the drive. Any more
ways i can get this working again. What had Microsoft

.
Use ControlPanel and UNINSTALL everything relating to
your camera. Unplug camera (USB). Turn off PC. Reboot
PC and plug in camera. Windows plug&play feature will
find new hardware and ask you to install it or not. Go
ahead and it might ask you to insert installation disk.

Hey Jake i tried that and it still showing me the drive contents it did not
come with any disk and i've talked with lexar media and they said it was
built inot windows and i don't need any additional software besides what
windows has. \

Have a look at these KB articles:
(Let us know if any of the info solves the problem.)

The following info has been previously posted in this ng:

=========================================

In order to get this function back go to the following site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
Download the file Tweak UI.exe
Once in a folder on your computer, double click on it to
install the program.
Click on Start>All Programs>Power Toys for XP>Tweak UI.
A box will open, click on the + square next to my computer,
click on the + square next to autoplay. Click on Types. Check
the box Enable Autoplay for removable drives.
Keep these directions, you will probably need them again.
This autoplay box has a tendency to go away.

===========================================

If the Autoplay window opens, but you do not have
all the previous selections, this is not a big problem.
Click on My Computer to open it and see the list of
drives, etc. displayed in the window.
Connect your camera to your computer.
Power your camera on.
Wait about 15-20 seconds for XP to recognize the
camera. You should hear some beeping. After this,
the Autoplay window will open. Click on Cancel.
At the same time, your camera will be displayed
under My Computer under Devices with Removable
storage. Right click on your camera. Click on
Properties and click on the Autoplay tab. Under Select
a content type, select Pictures. Then change the Actions
to Prompt me each time to choose an action.

================================================

If this fix did not work, open a photo folder and place your mouse pointer
over a file name or thumbnail.
A textbox will open. The first item listed in this textbox should be
Dimensions of the image in pixels.
If it is not listed, there is a way to repair this and maybe you need this
fix before autofix.exe can work to repair the camera wizard.
Long shot but worth a try. Just post back if you don't see Dimensions.

here is my test results. still no camera wizard

registry is tell it not to open the wizard because everytime i open it i get
windows explorer showing the contents of my removeable drive.

Hey this is john a friend of mine has the camera so i am stuck with out it
but as soon as i get it back i'l post and let you know if after running the
REG thing the autofix worked.
John

Thanks. I think it will work. Somebody posted about it and it worked.
However we had "fixes" before and they worked for some but not others.
Will be nice to know if indeed you need to run the REG first.
Don't forget to reboot after autofix.exe and then try your camera.
