What files to save?

Whoops, may have hit a wrong button there, sorry.

HD dying with XP Pro. Stays up as long as no extensive disc activity,
like scans etc., so have an opportunity to save what I need to a CD so
I can reinstall XP and apps on a new HD. Got all my data files off and
backed up Quicken.

I've posted to Outlook and IE6 NG's asking how to save their operating
files, but would like to know if there are any other important files I
should save while I've got the chance.

Just a note about the dying HD. I thought I had solved the problem a
month ago when a tech talked me through reseating the drive. But
yesterday, it started again, first one loud click, then several, then
popcorn and the Kernal_Stack_Inpage_Error BSOD came up cause an app
couldn't read a page from the HD. It would reboot, sometimes and run
for awhile, but would eventually get that BSOD.

Finally stabalized it by going in to MSCONFIG during a brief up spell
and killing all of the apps that connect to the internet or run in the
background, like AV, etc. No scans, no disc activity = no BSOD.

The tech yesterday told me that when the HD starts clicken sickly, it's
time to replace it, quickly. I'm sure Johnny Cockran could have been
more poetic than that.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I do not have an external or any other HD, so can't Ghost this HD.
Besides, it's probably time to do a clean install anyway.
