Hello,

I am wondering what exactly does Microsoft Windows XP's System Restore
exactly restore. System files? Registry? To what extent does it restore.

Any information regarding this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Pretty much everything that is not in your My Documents folder and
subfolders (which, incidentally, is one reason why you shouldn't mess with
the Windows defaults when it comes to these folders, which are designed to
hold your personal data files). Included in System Restore is the Users and
Local Machine registry keys and subkeys, which are the only two keys and
subkeys that are actually saved to your hard drive (the other keys are
"linked" to these keys and are loaded into RAM as needed).
