When user clicks button new file is created using
Do
fname = Application.GetSaveAsFilename
Loop Until fname <> False
newbook.SaveAs Filename:=fname & "xls",
FileFormat:=xlNormal

Then top sheet of users file is copied to the new file
Sheets("Status Change").Copy Before:=Workbooks(fname
& "xls").Sheets(1)

this works fine.

But the I use
Workbooks(myfile & "xls").Save

and I get this message:
Save 'MyFile.xls'with references to unsaved documents?

what does this mean?

Thanks

It means Status Change is in an unsaved workbook and has references (formula
that reference) to other sheets in that book When you copied it to the new
workbook, it brought those references along with it so the new sheet is now
referring to data in an unsaved workbook (or Status Change was originally in
a saved workbook but had references to an unsaved workbook - in any event,
the copied sheet has references to an unsaved workbook).
