What does modification not allowed because selection is lock?

I download 2007. When I tried 2 type on Word. I receive a message, This
modification is not allowed because the selection is lock. What does this
mean?
 
It usually means that the application has not been activated or it is a
trial version that has expired (or that you are attempting to install a
trial version for the second time when a previous trial has expired).
