What does Error 0x800ccc0d mean, and how do i repair it?

I'm having trouble connecting to Outlook, more specifically to connect to the
Sympatico server. I've spent a couple of hours with the Help Desk of my ISP,
and they can't figure out why I can't receive or send email. The problem
seems to have sprung from nowhere about 2 days ago. Since that time, I've
been getting the above error message, but I don't know what it means, nor how
to address it.

In addition to Ms. Orland's suggestion, it could also be caused be an update
to your antivirus program.
