What does Active directory mean?

Hello everybody. I din't understand wery well about Active Directory in
windows 2000. Anybody can help me, and try to explain that in a detail way
because. i've read papers and i haven't understood. Thanks

2000. Alguien puede ayudarme y intentar explicar esto de una manera detallada

A good place to start would be an AD administration book. You'll also need
to get a server and practice -- its really the only way.
