While working on an Excel spreadsheet, I noticed that my cursor had changed
from a "pointer arrow" to a "plus sign". What does this signify, and how do
I get back to the "pointer arrow"?

If you're referring to the black "solid" cross at the bottom right corner of
the cell, it's the fill handle, you drag it to fill formulas down/across

If you mean a fat white cross, that is normal cursor when within the cells
section of a worksheet window.

The pointer arrow only shows when you move off that area.

I am having the same problem in Excel 2007. All of a sudden this evening my
cusor has changed to a large white cross. It has always been an arrow,
whether selcting a cell or moving from cell to cell. There has to be an
option somewhere. But I can't see anything in customizing.

I have worked with 5 versions of Excel and never seen an arrow pointer when
pointing to cells.

Don't know how you got your Excel to provide that configuration in the past.
