I want to be able to watch DVD on my computer.

What kind of hardware do I need?

Do I need special software or is WindowXP enough?

Thanks in advance

.Hi, Yes you need software PowerDVD or WinDVD come to
mind but I'm sure their are others.(I use WinDVD and have
no complaints with it) And naturally you need a DVD rom
drive.
How much RAM do you have installed? And your cpu speed
are also factors.

Hardware - needs to be able to read DVD discs, so a DVD
drive is needed.

Software - you need a decoder for the DVD's. WinDVD is one
piece of software that will do it. (of course there are
others).

You need to buy a dvd/cdrom drive. They run around $60-70usd here, maybe
less. The drive should come with software.

Hi,

A DVD-ROM drive and DVD codecs. These usually are provided with the DVD-ROM.

Nothing special about the VideoBoard requirements ??

Some video boards - ATI Rage or Radeon ones certainly in my experience -
have inbuilt support for doing the processing needed by the MPEG coding
of a DVD, specifically the 'Inverse Cosine Transformation' I think the
other higher end cards, like nVidias do also, but do not have specs to
check the point. Much less likely in an 'on board' video support. If
you do not have the video card support you just need a higher speed CPU
- 1GHz up, with it I had fair performance from an ATI card at a 450 MHz
one
