What date formats does Excel accept?

I'm trying to find an exhaustive list of all date formats that Excel
recognizes right off the bat, i.e. you can enter into a cell and Excel
recognizes it as a date. Including all the "Ambiguous"/"Best Guess" ones
like 01/03 (does it mean January 1, 2003 or January 3, this year).

Hi Jonathan!

I've sent you some draft text that is pretty exhaustive as far as
recognised date formats are concerned.

The trouble is that "recognised" and "interpreted" varies according to
Regional Settings. This is covered for the two alternatives m-d-y and
d-m-y. I haven't covered the Chinese system y-m-d.

As far as unambiguous dates are concerned, all that I can find for all
English language versions are:

12 January 2002
12-January-2002
12/January/2002
12 Jan 2002
12-Jan-2002
12/Jan/2002
2002-01-12
2002/01/12
2002/1/12

For all language versions it looks like you only have the last 3.

I didn't get it -- could you send it again please?

Make sure to demunge my email address. You have to remove the first two
characters after the atsign, as well as the ".invalid".

Hi Jonathan!

I sent to your email address amended as suggested and as an attachment
to the reply to an email you sent. Second time was as a WinZipped
file.

I think that somewhere in your system emails with attachments are
being diverted or withheld.

Maybe it's my mail forwarding (antispam) service. Try my real address.

I apologize for making extra work for you. Thanks for being understanding.

Hi Jonathan!

Send me one from that non-sneakmail address.

But I'm off to bed soon!
