What characters define word separators in Window XP? How to change?

When I double click on some text in my word processor, or web browser, etc.
Windows tries to select a complete word. Many times it grabs multiple words
because they are separated by "_", "\" or other characters.

How can I modify what Windows uses to delimit words? I'm sure there must be
somewhere to tweak as these delimiters would be different for different
languages.

You can't. Words are usually separated by a space sign (ASCII 32) and
Windows is not responsible for the behavior of your word processor and
your web browser.

You're a Linux user, aren't you.

If it's dependent of the software I use, WHY is it the same in ALL my
software - web browser, notepad, email client, chat client, programming IDE,
etc...

I bet if you check CAREFULLY you find it is NOT
all the same.

For instance, Word and Front Page know that when I
double-click on a word with a trailing comma, the comma
should NOT be part of the selection.

However, when using the text editor in my video editing
package to create titles, the comma gets selected along
with the word.

Based on things like that I would say it's application dependent.

If several apps call a .DLL that does the selecting, it might seem
like everything behaves the same, but that's just the .DLL talking...

Not true. Open any topic of any help file (*.hlp) and click or double-
click any text. Next, double-click any text of a *.chm help file and
double-click again. Taste the difference! Again, the (associated)
application determines the behavior rather than Windows. EOD

*sigh* Oh well... I've lived with it this long. I guess I'll survive.

: )

Thanks!
