What are pst files?`

I am supposed to copy users pst files to their local pc.

I don't quite understand any of this.

Can anyone help me in layman's terms?

PST files (Personal Folders Files) are what files Outlook uses to store all
its data.
I don't mean to offend in any way, but if you don't know what these are,
perhaps you might seek out some more expert help with this task -
 
Thanks Milly and LanWrench..LanWrench you aren't offending me..the problem
is that I wanted to make sure I understood what I was talking about before I
started asking questions (I know its cheating)..thanks to you guys I have
more info. :)
