Jeff

I've downloaded a music file whose file name ends in the .ram extension.
What application plays such music files?

Thanks.

Jeff

Thanks. But I am trying to avoid installing RealAudio because of its
spyware and general bad behavior. Does anything other than Real Audio play
these files?

Thank you.

Although he *can* us Real Player, he doesn't *need to*, and I recommend that
he doesn't. Real Alternative, for example, can be used instead.

I wouldn't permit Real Player on my machine.

OTOH I have not had much luck with alternatives and I think Real have been
forced into better behavior by such customers as the BBC who use their
system. Have to watch them all the time though.

That's fine. It's certainly your choice. My point was primarily that there
*is* a choice, and he doesn't *need to* have Real Player.

Real's behavior may possibly be better than it used to be, but they've
convinced me that they can't be trusted, and I stay as far away from them as
possible. Real Alternative, as I said, works fine here.

But to ensure lots of interrupting pop-ups and advertisements?

There's a program called Real Alternative, a plugin for Windows Media
Player that allows it to play RealMedia files.
