Up until now, on boot up, it would go directly to my desktop.
Now it stops at the welcome screen and requires me to choose
which account to log in as even though I only have 1 account setup.
How do I fix this ?
Thanks Frank

Right-click with the mouse pointer on My Computer, click Properties, followed
by the Advanced tab. Click the Settings button under User Profiles. All of
the available User Profiles are listed there. Click on the profile that you
want to remove, and click the Delete button.

You probably won't be allowed to, but in case that is permissable, don't
remove the Administrator Account.

if you password protected the account, it will open welcome screen.

or check control panel user account.
disable welcome screen

Run "control userpasswords2"

Select the account you want to be the standard from now on.

UNtick "users must enter apassword.. "

You will be asked to supply the password, twice.

Save and reboot.

As part of Windows Update, you now have a second "special" "ASP.Net" account,
installed by the .Net Frameworks updates. Download on install the Powertoy
for Xp TwaekUI module. Once this is installed, click on it and go to the
"Logon" section. Uncheck each account you do not to show up on the Welcome
screen. (Note: You need only one account in order to by-pass the Welcome
screen.)

Thanks for the reply but the account is my admin account, never had a
password
and I don't see a "disable welcome screen" option in user accounts.

Thanks but that did not fix it.
Again, I just want it to go directly to the desktop.

Tweak UI fixed it. Thanks

This looked like a option from Windows 2000.
Is this option available through a menu within XP ?

Or is it just one of those hidden things ?
Thanks Frank

Right-click My computer, Manage, Local Users and Groups, Users. In the right window pane is a
list of all the users on your computer. Just disable the accounts that were added by the
Microsoft.net framework update. Close the window, reboot, and the "Select User" logon screen
will no longer appear.

What is the ASP.NET Machine Account?

Thanks.
I already fixed this by installing Tweak UI and using one of its settings
but FYI mine did not have the Local Users and Groups.
Maybe because I only have one account (admin) setup.
