I have set several user options including the start-up option of the welcome
screen.
Even with a password for one user, (the one with admin status), when booting
up the computer always omits the welcome screen.
Anyone has immediate access to the admin files.
Any help?
Pete

Hi Pete,

Go to Start - Run and type the following command then press enter:
control userpasswords2
On the Advanced tab Make sure "Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Del " is
unchecked.

Also if Tweakui is installed, go to Logon - Autologon and make sure
"Log on automatically at system startup" is unchecked.

I have an issue that seems to be opposite that Pete's. I do not want the
welcome screen to show. I want to turn on my computer, leave the room and
come back and find it booted and not waiting for a password. How can I stop
the welcome screen? Thanks, Gary

Hi Gary,

Go to Start - Run and type the following command then press enter:

control userpasswords2

Make sure "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer" is unchecked.

Thank you, Bert.
This solved the problem.
I wonder whether there is a book that contains all those tricks and commands.
But may be, this news group is even better than any book.
Thanks a lot.
Pete
