Weird thing happening

Hello,

I have been using this same spreadsheet for months and
then this morning I tried to sum up one of the columns and
it is returning a zero. When I do an auto sum it won't
even pick up the range. I have tried to paste special, I
have looked at the format of the cells, checked every
formula even the sum on the bottom of the excel screen
doesn't work. All of the other column will sum.

What's up?

It could be that some of your cells aren't formatted correctly.

Look at some of the last cells that you entered your values into.
Click on Format, Cells, 'number' tab.

In the list, 'number' should be highlighted. However, it may say
'text' instead, which would be a reason why you're not getting the
correct sum.

If that is the case then all those cells with 'text' instead of
'number' will have to be changed, and you may have to input the value
once more for the change to take effect.

Instead of re-inputting an entire column, copy a numeric zero, select
the text column, and Edit|Paste Special|Add.

Note that once the data has been entered, it is not sufficient to mearly
reformat, because formatting affects the display only, not the value in
the cell (and text vs. numeric are different values)
