People,

A strange thing happens.

When I open the hotmail.com page, I see in the live id field someoneelse's
account adress.

Instead I am supposed to see my own account adress, as a cookie should keep
that.

Now I dont know what is going on...

I use vista ultimate with AVG.
I leave my laptop open during the midnight for emule.
I use wireless internet conenction and it is unsecured.
My vista ultimate has the sp1 and latest updates, with firewall on...

In these conditions can someone reach and use the hotmail from my computer?
What is going on?

If I cannot get a sensible answer, I will start to doubt if someone breaks
in my home during the day and use my laptop,
when I am at work...

Would you know what is going on?

You just answered your own question.

if the wireless is unsecured, in what way I can have someonelse's account
name on my comp?
what may really be happening here?

I have a firewall and so...

Do you really know that it is possible that can happen or are you just
guessing?
Are you knowledgable enough or just guessing?

Please dont guess but tell me how that is possible.
Otherwise I am really going insane...
I dont have any room to accept guess answers to my question.

he's right. put a WEP key in and see if it does that again. and if that's
only happened once, leave it alone for one or two more days and see if that
happens again. if it doesn't you're fine. i still recommend a WEP or WPA key
though.

How can I put a WEP or WPA key?
What do these mean?
I use linksys.

Can I do this in vista easily?
Or do I need my wireless routers cd?

Use WPA, or preferably WPA2. Breaking an old fashioned WEP key is done in a
matter of minutes, even amateurs can do it with downloaded software.

lol what you just said is crap, not surprising coming from the most
retarded and disgusting member of any newsgroup ever.

the cookie is stored locally and has nothing to do with an internet
connection even if its shared with 100 people.

I suggest you leave here and go work in a an amusement park in the horror
house.

STFU. What I said is right. You have no clue. You only wish you could get
a job at an amusement park in the horror house. That would be a step up for
a retard like yourself.

If there are entries where they don't belong and his router is not secure
then someone could be getting in there! Now go take a class and get some
manners you POS.

Oh yea, one more thing. I am not the most retarted member of the group.
You are. Not that disgusting either. Close not no cigar. No go play with
some electricity.

Sounds like this is way beyond your pay grade. Take your computer to
someone who knows what they are doing

"Wired Equivalent Privacy" and "Wi-Fi Protected Access". They are both
encryption algorithms, used to secure wireless networks. WEP is deprecated,
the most recent standard is WPA2.
I use linksys.

Many routers come with software to do this, but most are directly accessed
at their IP-address, such as 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.100 (you just type
this address into the url field in your browser, and hit enter to access the
device).

Read the router manual for specific how-to. Like I wrote in the other post,
use WPA encryption, or WPA2. Also, remember to put a password on the router
(you do not want others to be able to log onto it and change the settings)
and enable it's firewall.

Run thorough malware checks if you suspect your computer has been
compromised. I suggest you post a question about this in the
microsoft.public.windows.vista.security newsgroup.

Oh great retard of America, did you read his answer? He doesn't know what
he is doing. That probably flew above your pointy little head.

No go be great and shove a camel up your ass.

You are the idiot and mental midget here in the group. You have no clue on
anything except causing trouble. Go install Ubuntu with the other retard
Kevpan815. You would make a great couple.

Please use ONE firkin NICK so I can block you..

Exciter,

Most Routers use 192.168.0.1 as address to set up page.. you can check their
Web Site for your type and address. Then set your key.

Another point that I'd suggest is to get TrendMicro Internet Security.. You
can buy that around $35 / year with all updates in between..

I use that instead of those freebie programs.

DO NOT use Mcaffee or Nortons.. They are useless.. and I know, I've been
around a long time in this business.. I won't to bore u with details

Oh dear.

Our neighbour over-the-back-fence had an unsecured wireless network. She
called me in because she had her 25GB broadband allowance chewed up in 2
days.

If you don't know how to secure your wireless network, get someone in who
can do it for you.
