weird messageless error

I don't know what's going on. I wasn't doing anything on my
computer (was washing the dishes) and heard an error
message pop up on my computer. I didn't see what it was and
thought I'd check it when I was done. Next thing I know,
the computer reboots by itself and now, whenever I start
the thing up, I get a messageless error. All it shows is a
dialog box with and "x" error symbol and no text whatsoever.

Any idea what's happening?

Souds like someone may have gotten you PC over the internet. You
*have* been keeping up with patches.. right?

Also AdAware, SpyBot, Norton AV and the a firewall are also good
ideas.
