in desparation!
sometime overnight my computer (GA-81EXP,Pentium 4, 3GHz, 1024Mb RAM)
developed a problem. this morning it was merrily rebooting. each time
getting as far as the Windows XP logo, some 5 seconds later it reboots. in
safe mode startup it gets as far as the agp440.sys driver then reboots
again.
i then tried rebooting from the original windows XP disk, as soon as i hit
enter to install windows XP the system blue-screens with the message :
*** STOP 0x00000024 (0x001902F8, 0xF89B8704, 0xF89B8404, 0xF81C6411)

*** ntfs.sys - Address F81C6411 base at F8158000, Datestamp
3b7dc5d0

am in desparation over this........ have tried removing the AGP graphics
card an inserting an old VGA card, removing all disks except the system
disk, swapping memory modules out etc. and have totally run out of ideas.

any suggestions gratefully received.

did you have a look at the cpu fan to see if it was still working?

other things to try :

run a ram test (yes even though you swapped ram)

also run a hardddrive diagnostic...

if everything checks out you can boot from your XP cd
and from the recovery console run chkdsk /f or checkdsk /r

if there are no harddrive errors
but you system still won't boot

you can also try a repair installation

hi, can't even get in to recovery console shows same blue screen error
as above. RAM checked out fine... tried in another machine and swapped
the RAM between them both. proc. fan good, temp shows 27C in bios setup.
suppose i got to put a new disk in as system disk next and try that. i
seem to have tried everything else!

if you can't even get to the recovery console things do not look good...
go to the website of your harddrive mfg and get their diagnostic utility
and run it on your drive...
also...it might possibly be a power supply problem
