Hello,

Out of nowhere my PC screen went balck and then a blue
screen with white lettering appeared. The message on the
screen was that "an error occurred so Windows was
shutting down the system. It then said "Attempt was made
to read-only memory". It followed that if this was a
first time error message than reboot if it occurs again
then it could be a hardware issue.

I have not added any new hardware to this PC in at least
a year. Does any one know why this message is
happening. When i tried rebooting the first few times I
still got the same message. Finally I was able to log
on. The PC was going to send an error report but the
computer this occurred on is not online. According to
the error log the report is stored in C:/Windows?Minidump?
Mini080304-01.dmp.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how I can
stop this from happening in the future.

Thanks
Mike Pellegrino

Hello, Mike,
Right click "My Computer" > click Properties > click
Hardware tab > click Device Manager button. See any
hardware items expanded and displaying error alerts?

Thanks for the response Cynthia. I checked the Device
Manager and everything seems fine. There are no devices
highlighted as having a proble. Also the PC has been
fine and I have not added any new hardware. I added some
new software but not hardware.

Also where would i go to update the drivers. My PC with
the problem is not connected online.

Thanks again
Mike Pelle
