I got a WD black drive and it seemed quite heavy.
Looking up specs, it is more than 100 grams over a green drive.
So why is this?
Is it just to make the punters think the drive is robust and rugged?
Or are they skimping on the weedy greenie stuff?

Just the casting used.

Unlikely. More likely they just put more work into
minimising the metal used in the cheapest drives.

More platters.
