Hi

I was wondering is there any sense in this idea:


Instead of just sending selects to the database server and getting
response in the normal way I could make a webservice on the server, send
the reqest to it and in the response get the zipped dataset.


Thanks to it number of send data would be smaller then in the normal way
- right?


Other question - is it possible at all??


I found something called DIME but is there a way to zip a DataSet before
transfering it?

Of course, it is possible.
Serialized DataSet is no more than an array of bytes, and any array of bytes
can be zipped.
WebMethods can return byte arrays, so there is no problem.

SharpZipLib allows one to zip files
