Matt Houston

hey,
im trying to do a mail merge to word and one of the columns on m
spreadsheet ive formatted with webdings and a "c" character cos i nee
to have a box on the word page, but when i do the mail merge it jus
comes up as a "c". if I format the text in word as webdings it gives m
a half block kind of thing.
any ideas?
thank

Matt

In the cell is the letter c. That's it!! It's the Wingdings font that makes
it look like the graphic. You'd have to format the mailmerge font to
Wingdings for that letter, to get the same result. Each font does have it's
own special characters, however, but I don't know whether there'll be one
the same as you've found.

Andy.

ok thanks. just thought it was weird that webdings gives you one thin
in excel and another in word, but i'll have to find another way

Hi Matt,
Andy indicated that you need to format in Word with the
wingdings font not the webdings font. Font type is not carried
into Word from Excel with Mail Merge so you have to format it in
Word not matter what font you use if it is not the default font
you are using in Word.

You can see the differences in the fonts on the following web page
subject to your browser and fonts you have. If you are using IE
and have MS Office, I expect you will see them the same as in Excel.
