Greetings all,
First of all, if this is the wrong ng for this question, please forgive me
and suggest one more proper.
My question has to do with "indexing" on a website. What exactly is it and
does it have a bearing on whether or not the site is getting traffic? I am
not a developer, I just have a website that doesn't seem to be getting much
traffic and I am trying to find out why. The person that made and is
maintaining the site doesn't know what it is either.
Thanks,
Jim

Hi

Indexing a Web Site indexes the content of your pages, and allows fast
content searching.

Almost all web sites have a search box in which you can type a term and it
will provide links the pages on your site that includes the term. In
essence, you are doing on your Site what Google does to the Internet.

Does it enhance traffic per-se? Probably not much. Howvever there is No
reason not to provide Search. Some server application has an embedded
capacity to index and search, you can index with special application that
can be installed on the server, or you can add a Live Search Box to your
site,

Live Search would index your site through the Internet and would provide
local and Internet capacity (Google provides similar service too).
