finally succeeded in uploading pages to website. but when i go to site,
instead of the completed web page there is an index page with a listing of
the files on the site. if i click on the name of the home page, then i can
get to the web pages.
i don't know what happened, but i do want to fix it.
do you have any ideas?

The name that you are using as the default name is not the name that the web
server needs. You have to make sure that the homepage is one of the names
that the server will use. For example: on Windows servers the default file
is default.htm, but on Unix it is usually index.html. If a Unix server
hasn't been configured to recognize default.htm as a default file, then
you'll either get a file not found (404), or you'll get a list of files in
the directory when a recognized default document isn't present.

Contact your host to find out what the legitimate default filenames are and
re-name your default file to one of those.

Hope this helps,

i got the web pages back- but the thing was origianlly creqted with frames.
now when i open it up, i get the web page, and 2 duplicate navigational
frames at the side (and they both work. is there a way to get rid of one of
them? when i open up the pages in preview, there is only one navigational
frame.

If you are using frames your frameset page must be you home page
- fix your frameset page locally and republish

there were two problems- both solved- a was a corrupt image file that was
screwing everything up. 2 was that the person who directed me to the hodst
site gave me the wrong url for uplodaing. it sure helps when the mail gets
to the right address!
