I'm still searching! When I log on to (as an example)
CBS.sportsline.com (my home page), the content does not
fill the screen even though the web page is maximized,
unlike other web pages where everything is working fine.
The problem varies from one web page to antoher...for
instance the content fills the screen when looking at this
support newsgroup. Previous posts are added below to give
a history of unsuccessful soluitons (I'm not blaiming
Frank...it's my fault that I haven't been able to explain
the problem fully.) I hope this helps.

It isn't that the web page opens small (as in minimized),
the web page is fully open (maximized), but the page
doesn't fill the entire page, only about 1/2. On my
other computer, it fills the page. Bob

Remove any 'Auto-hide' option for the Windows taskbar and
while the window
is maximized, resize the taskbar then return it to the
desired size. This is
to try to make Windows re-calculate the window size and
boundaries.

If no joy, run regedit and remove these registry key
values:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main\window_placement

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Desktop\OldWorkAreas\OldWorkAreaRects

Then reboot.

That site doesn't fill my screen either. I see about 3" of blue on the
right That's the way it's designed - it seems to be designed to fit full
with if you have 640 X 480 monitor resolution and I'm running at 1280X1024.
Unless I'm misunderstanding, what you're seeing is normal.

Yes, that is the reason for the space at the right of a lot of webpages.
They are sized for lower resolutions to be more compatible with majority
surfers (or at least that was the thinking a while ago....nowdays the
popular resolution is at least 1024X768, not sure why webpages do not size
to this now).
