Whilst on IE, I keep getting a web page opening saying in red letters 'you have visited an illegal Pedo wsites' (which I have not done) with pictures of men in FBI jackets on it. It also downloads files onto my favourites file and desktop, changes the home page and downloads a file onto my programs folder. It has also added options to the Tools menu. I keep deleting these files but the next time the web page comes up, it downloads it all again. Can anyone help me stop this page loading and how to delete these options from the tools menu which I haven't be able to do. I have Norton AV, a firewall and have downloaded a spayware program which is now advising me that the home page is trying to be changed

Please help!!!

Hi Toni,

Hi

Whilst on IE, I keep getting a web page opening saying in red letters 'you have visited an illegal Pedo wsites' (which I have not done) with pictures of men in FBI jackets on it. It also downloads files onto my favourites file and desktop, changes the home page and downloads a file onto my programs folder. It has also added options to the Tools menu. I keep deleting these files but the next time the web page comes up, it downloads it all again. Can anyone help me stop this page loading and how to delete these options from the tools menu which I haven't be able to do. I have Norton AV, a firewall and have downloaded a spayware program which is now advising me that the home page is trying to be changed.

Please help!!!

Download the utility CWshredder:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

Unzip - close *all* instances of IE & OE, hit the executable and
follow
the prompts.

You can also download Hijack This from here:

http://www.mjc1.com/files/merijn/hijackthis.exe

Go here:
http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/

For instructions on how to use it; you have to post the log it
produces so experts tell you what is good and what is malware

Try downloading, installing and updating the
spyware removers from the links below. Run both of them.

Ad-aware

Spybot S&D
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download

If these don't correct the problem, then get yourself a copy of
BHODemon, available at
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm .

It does not need installing - simply unzip and run the EXE program. It
is easy to use. It will find the hijackware DLL files, and give you
the ability to disable them.

Hope this helps.

Hi Roger

Thanks for the advice, the shredder and the Spybot downloads were a great help and the problem seems to be sorted, no more web pages downloading onto my files. I still have the problem with my tools menu, I have four items listed after the Messenger link which have the same names as some of the files that were loading onto my desktop etc. Any ideas how I can delete these options from the Tools menu.

Many Thanks, Toni

Hi Toni,

You're welcome, I'm glad most of the problems were solved :)
For the options that you have in the tools menu you could perform a
search in the registry and eliminate the keys where they are located.
Start > Run > Regedit. Press F3, enter the name and hit enter. Once
you've erased it, go to the next one.

Another option is to follow Lance's advice and use Toolbar cop
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/toolbarcop.htm

Good luck
