A few days ago something happened to my IE. Previouslly, when surfing the web, I would put the cursor over the web link and the web address would show up at the bottom of IE, no it doesn't.

Also, I love the task bar within XP, but when I open IE, it covers the whole screen to include the task bar, which it previouslly never did. All I had to do to get to my desktop is hit the quick button (show desktop) on the task bar....Any way someone can help me out on this also.....

Thanks and Semper Fi!

The first problem likely means that your Status bar has been disabled.
View, Status Bar (Alt-V,B)

Do that before you fix the next part because it will change your
IE window's main frame size.

when I open IE, it covers the whole screen to include the task bar

Have you tried resizing your Taskbar? If you resize your Taskbar
while IE is maximized and Auto-hide is off IE will be forced to recalculate
its size to fit within the new screen boundaries.

The UI is different for each OS. FWIW in XP I can right-click under
the Start button and select Properties. Then I would make sure that both
options Lock the taskbar *and* Auto-hide the taskbar were *unchecked*.
Click Ok and that would then allow the Taskbar to be resized by dragging
it up or down as large or as small as I wanted. Right-click, Properties
again to restore those appearance items.
