Hi,
My weather gadget is not working ever since I have the computer. It says
"service is unavailable in your area or your language" - I'm located in NYC...
what should I do????

Whats your location? I live Jamaica and had to type Mandeville, Jam

Your area would be something like Manhattan, NY or Queens, NY

I'm in NY, NY - I even tried your location... and it still says that service
is unavailable - I think it's a setting problem and not location,
I hope someone will be able to help me and guide me through the problem,
thanks so much...
Wish I was in Jamaica...it freezing in NY today!!

If you use an outbound firewall. then you'll need to allow access for
sidebar.exe

sidebar.exe [C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe]

How do I know if I use an outbound firewall? how do I allow access for
sidebar.exe?
thanks for your help!!!!!!!!

1 MB DSL, hopefully by next year I will be able to upgrade 5 MB when Flow
reaches Mandeville, I am actually on my Cell phone modem right now in Class.

You'd generally know by which programs, esp. security software, you have
installed, which you can find out via

Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features

The big ones are Panda, Norton, Zone Alarm etc.

Vista also has a configurable outbound firewall, but if you'd configured
that then chances are you would already be aware of it.

Jon, thanks for taking the time to help me.
I have Symantec antivirus, couldn't find firewall confg., maybe there is
none...
I also have wireless connection at home. I'm using Linksys wireless router,
pass protected. I couldn't find firewall there either, but maybe that's where
the prblem is,
what do you think......
frustrating.....
thanks,
Ayelet

found it!!!
I opened my router setting, and there it was - windows firewall link,
it was on -
I added the sidebar file -
now it works!!!
thanks for teaching me something!

yw..glad you sorted it.

This time of year Weather gadgets are extremely useful - I currently have 2
of them in my sidebar - BBC + Met Office UK.

Happy sidebar-ing!

Stick your head out of the door, look up and figure out what the weather is
like. I know this is so analog, but really it's worked for 50,000 years.

Cheers.

I liken those gadgets to a gadget that tells you the PC is running.
Or a gadget that says ... "You are looking at the Display"

I'm on the 21st floor........, it's so cold (relative speaking), that
sticking my head out of the door might cost me losing my ears...or nose.....

:-)
