I'm am trying to go into the website www.flashkit.com and up until recently I have been able to view this site.... I am now getting the message, "We're sorry, due to the immense amount of traffic Flashkit receives, we can no longer allow offline browsers." As far as I know I'm not using an offline browser... IE 6. I seem to be the only person receiving this message and need to get into the website!! Can anyone help

Maybe because your firewall is blocking Referer or other
browser-specific identifier strings (or substitutes generic strings for
them) which makes it impossible for the web site to know that you are
using IE6. If you have a firewall, try disabling it. If you can then
use the web site okay, you'll have to configure an exception in your
firewall for that web site to NOT block Referer or browser-specific
strings.

For example, in Norton Internet Security under Web Content where you can
add exceptions for web sites, the default is to NOT block information
about the browser but DO block information about visited sites
(Referer).

The web site wants to know what agent is accessing their web site. They
don't want spiders or crawlers navigating their pages, especially since
many don't comply with the site's wishes as expressed in the robots.txt
file for such site grabbing tools. If you don't want to let them know
what browser you are using to access their site, they won't let you
access it. Similarly, some sites don't want outside links into their
web site (other than the home page and why many have a "Click to Enter"
home page). They demand that to get to an inside web page requires that
you came from one of their other web pages. If you block Referer then
they cannot see from where you came when you try to open another of
their web pages. So, again, you will need to define a Web Content
exception that allows Referer get sent to that domain to successfully
access all their web pages.
