We are in need of a very comprehensive scheduling system?

We are a company that provides 24/7 home health care to the mentally retarded
and mental health population. The hours vary from site to site. There is a
great deal of information that needs to be included when scheduling that we
need to track and create reports. Who is trained to work at what site, what
hours an employee is available, meetings that need to be attended, customer
schedule (in or out of school or work), various hours at one site, multiple
employees at one site and etc... It would be helpful to have this work with a
HRIS system, or a database which we do not have as of yet nor have we
created. Scheduling is first on my agenda because it is totally consuming.

Hi Jo Ann,

I would first look around in your field / industry (i.e. peers, even
competitors) see how others are doing it. There might be a custom, off-the
shelf software that does more or less what you require.

Otherwise, I would suggest finding an Access developer to build it for you.
MS Access is definitely suited for this project.

I strongly recommend finding a commerical software product for the health
care industry that is HIPAA compliant. Your description sets off all types
of HIPAA alarm bells.

Health Care
Mentally Retarded
Customer schedule.
Need to interface with a HRIS

This project is well beyond the capability of most individual developers.

Here are a couple of vendors that may be of interest:
