Just out of interest, my result shown above is the best I can do.

That was the result of four machines left on for around 48 hours which covered the 24 hours between 8am Friday and 8am Saturday.

18 results and 6830 points - ho-hum...

And I still say the 'charts' should be listed by results, not points, but that's just me

Would sir like the five minute argument or the full half hour?

They are pretty stunning results . 4 machines for 48 hours 6830 points not bad . I see taffycat returns 3000 points with 1 machine and she puts it to sleep at night , but I think she is feeding hers lots of leeks .

Hmmmm, I think I've seen this discussion somewhere before

To be honest, no system of ranking is totally fair, be it points or results, however I suspect runtime may be more so - but I haven't really looked into it.

Whereas results was probably fairer a while ago, now with the different WU lengths for different projects - you can manipulate your results by picking the project with the smallest WU's - for instance when the old Genome project was running, you could crunch around 4 of them for every 1 FAAH result.

I think now with the elimination of 'enhanced clients' and the imposition of penalties for 'outliners' - points ranking is probably fairer at the moment.

The other alternative is not to have a ranking system at all, but I would think that would make the daily stats somewhat boring?

The points gained were just for 24 hours of that 48 hour period, I ran them all for 48 hours overlapping the time 'setpoints' just to make sure they covered the whole period.

Normally I only crunch when the machines are actually being used, but I was curious.

the dual-core Vista machine and single-core XP-Pro... but you are right about me tucking them up and putting them to bed overnight - unless I plan a day out, then they do a nightshift and get a day-off instead........ if they're extra specially good, they get a Welshcake each popped into their optical drives :lol:
