I sent a PP presentation to a friend. It included sound -- wav files -- on
three slides. She said the sound didn't work when it reached her. What did
I do wrong?

Do you know whether the WAVs were embedded? If the WAV files are larger than
the size limit you have set in Tools > Options > General then they are linked.
Open PowerPoint and open your presentation. Right click on one of the sound
icons and select "Edit Sound Object". If it shows a path to the file then the
file is linked and doesn't play for your friend because you didn't send the file
with the presentation. If it says that the file is contained in the
presentation then it is embedded and you friend has a problem on her system. My
guess is the former rather than the latter.
