Hi gang,

Just curious about the Yes, No selection on the question, "Was this post
helpful to you? "

In a case where I posted a question and received numerous helpful responses,
which collectively provided the final solution, do I select Yes for each
response that was helpful, or just select Yes on the very last post when the
topic has ended?

Thanks

Peter

I think the intention is that each post which is (itself) helpful should be
checked, so that the poster gets whatever credit is to be had from it.

The reality is that only a few of the regular volunteers here use the webpage
at all, and we never see the checks, or even have our identity defined to the
webpage. Most of use use NNTP newsreaders such as Agent or Outlook Express to
read and post; the additional features like "answered" or "helpful" or "bronze
stars" don't even show up for us.

Thanks John,

I am trying Agent since the NNTP newsreaders are so much quicker to view and
navigate. However, with both Agent and Outlook Express I can't seem to view
messages beyond a couple of months ago. Agent is the nicer program but I only
show messages up to 3 months ago even when I've asked to load Get All
Headers. Even searchs in the microsoft.public.access will show it's searching
all 15,928 headers but I only get results from finds within recent months of
2007.

Take care,

Peter

That depends, not on Agent, but on your news server.

You can find a long-running archive of Usenet posts on
http://groups.google.com. They've had some problems lately which I hope are
being resolved, but it's a good place to look for posts running back for
years.
