I note that this warning is repeatedly listed in event viewer. Out of
curiosity, what's its cause?

"Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from
the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0011D8767D7C.
The following error occurred:
The operation was canceled by the user.. Your computer will continue to
try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP)
server."

Hi dev,

Happens a lot, usually due to line noise, contention, faulty
cable/connections, etc. The problem could also be located outside the local
machine, as every connection point is a possible problem (not just your nic,
but a router/hub, modem, relay device, and so on). The event will show even
if the disconnect is for microseconds. Unless you are getting frequent and
lengthy disconnects, I would not be concerned.

Dear Dev

I have this error. My situation is that my laptop gets an IP address from a
BT (ISP) router, rather than a true DHCP server.
I confirm that it never stops my laptop seeing the network and connecting to
the internet.

Little concern; it's just a warning, and seems to occur at boot up. A
router/NAT w/DSL static at work here.
Thanks for the feedback from you both.
