Step 1: If ain't broken don't fix it!

Step 2: Read the first and then goto Step 3 if it doesn't fix
your problem.

Step 3: Use Windows update and UPDATE, it will fix
alot of security and bug problems.

Step 4: Make sure you did Step 1 to Step 3 before you
move to Step 5.

Step 5: Read Microsoft Security Bulletins, particularily
about MICROSOFT does not send software
updates VIA E-MAIL. And they Never have or
will.

Step 6: Finally ask a question in this newsgroup, and let
your common-sense prevail.

Two additions:

Step 5.1: Search from newsgroups for similar symptoms before posting a new
question. Most likely someone else has already got similar problem.

Step 5.2: Internet search engines (like Google) are your best friends!
Before posting a question do a search. For example if program xyz.exe is
causing problems, try to search with error message text and/or program name.
