warning - clear history does not completely clear the history, why?

why doesn't "clear history" in tools-internet options
completely clear the ALL the history information? all the
web pages and folders are still there in the different
VIEWS of "history" by site, by most visited and by order
visited today. it's a big pain to right-click and delete
each page by page. this is a security issue that should
be addressed, well, perhaps i haven't figured it out yet.
pls help.

Have you tried doing that which you are doing with the browser closed? An
open browser can present a problem for deleting the history. If you are
having a problem with it after trying this suggestion, please post back to
this thread. In fact post back, if it works for you as well.

How do you delete the history with the browser closed?
 
Bonnie,

Start>settings>control panel>internet options>general tab> Click Clear
History>Click yes on the dialog box that emerges>OK out.
