Want to turn off overwrite. No option on status bar?!

HELP advises status bar overwrite option appears as OV. It does not. Stat bar
options shows nothing helpful. What now?

How about hitting the Ins[ert] key if you want to toggle overwrite mode?
Works the same way in other applications, too, and even in Windows apps.
 
What does this have to do with Outlook???
