Want to save photo as jpg., only allows me to save as bmp.

I right click to "save as" and want to put the photo into
My Pictures, but it only allows me to save the pics as
bmp. images, even though they're jpg.s. Can anyone help
me. I used to save them using "save target as" and now it
doesn't give me that option either. Windows XP.
