I need Outlook 2003 to launch at startup and display the calendar immediately
when the desktop opens. I have pinned Outlook to the start menu but it does
NOT load like I want it to. Outlook opens to the calendar only when I
manually click on it on the All Programs menu (WinXP-Home).

Just to verify, you did select Tools | Options | Other tab | Advanced
Options and set the startup folder to Calendar?

Just create a standard desktop shortcut and set it to start Outlook in a
minimized state.

ps - applies to windows 2000/xp/2003 operating system and assumes that u do
not shut outlook down when it is maximized.

* Right click on desktop and select New > Shortcut
* Supply drive:\path_to\outlook.exe
* Give it a nice display name
* Now right click on the desktop icon and select properties
* Change Run dropdown to minimized

Thanks neo... I feel like a real "Duh" . I completely overlooked the drop
down menu in the properties.

Okay, so I choose the minimized function from the drop down menu and I
placed the shortcut in my startup folder. While Outlook opens upon start it
does not open in a minimized fashion. Oh well... my exuberence has shifted
from overwhelmnig to minimized:-)

and as i said before, if you shutdown outlook when its window was last
maximized, all bets are off.
