I have a Japanese computer and want to put XP English on is that ok?

It should be fine - MS should certainly have tested this - but you may, of
course, run into some issues related to the keyboard.

IIRC, when in a previous life my co-workers were testing North American
software on Japanese machines, special attention had to be paid to the
non-Enter key the Japanese systems used.
