Hi I need to reinstall Windows XP Pro but when I boot off
the CD it says: "Setup is inspection your computer's
hardware configuration..."

Then it shows a blue screen with "Windows Setup and a
line below that nothing else on the screen. It just sits
like that for as long as I let it. What is going on?

Can Someone Help?

Thank You,

CJ

You need to boot from your CD and make sure the boot
sequence is CD first and you need to hit any key when it
is asking for. And then you can format you hard drive.

I Got past that step im am having a prolem at
the "Windows Setup" blue screen(see below)

Thanks anyway

Sounds to me that you might have HDD failure.
Most of the HDD Manufactures offer downloadable tools to check your drive,
download to a disk(floppy) and boot from the disk.

Hi Thanks for the tip, I tried that and it found no errors. I have got past
this point before, does any one think that it might be a scratched cd?

THank you CJ

Yes it could be a scratched cd but my experience is that a few little
scratches will not cause any problem, if it has bad or deep scratches this
could be the problem, you should be able to see anything that bad.
If you have a second ROM drive try using it, I have seen ROM drives that
seem to run fine with other disks but the XP disk shows an error.
If you have an error code post it and maybe someone can figure out the
problem.

Hi Haus, The scratches don't look very deep and I also tried making another
copy and trying it with that but the same thing happended. I only have one
rom drive and have never had any problems with it, I am not getting any error
message the setup just stays at the blue screen with windows setup on it, no
grey line at the bottom, and again I have been able to reinstall before.

Thank you in advance

CJ

If you have a retail copy of XP then MS offers free tech support via the
telephone, might be worth the call if they determine that you have a bad cd
then they will assist you in replacing it.

Thanks Haus I'll find out how to get support this is oem software so I'll
have to call them.

Thanks alot for your help

CJ

In that case MS will not offer any support for OEM software therefore you
will need to contact the computer manufacture.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Maybe someone else will see you post and come to your rescue.
