burned CDs in W98 (Compaq Presario OSTA UDF) that won't read in XP - requires a driver load which the system says it needs to do, click here to load it, upon which it loads the driver automatically, but then comes back with an "Error Loading setupx.dll" message.

a search of C:\ brings back no setupx.dll in XP. is there any harm to installing setupx.dll to the /system folder in xp? would that get the CD to read? or is there an easier solution?

It may be the case that the UDF reader you're trying to install is
incompatible with WinXP. Check with the manufacturer of the burning software
you're using on your Win98 machine.
