OK, I did it, I restored my system from a backup file after a crash ( I
screwed up..not Bill Gates). The original disk won't boot but it is readable
and I want to copy favorites and the complete outlook express settings and
email from the crashed disk to the newly restored one. ( the backup was
about 2 months old) Is there an easy way to grab the favorites and mail/news
from the old disk? I think I can just drag over the favorites folder but not
sure about the outlook express stuff!

Thanks
Ron H.

For the Outlook Express stuff, you can import the mail folders through
Outlook Express and point to the appropriate folder on your backup disk,
containing *.dbx files, and your address book by pointing to the *.wab file.

Hi Ron,

You can move the favorites file over, but the .dbx files are a little more complicated. The
best bet is ask in the OE forum, microsoft..public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.outlookexpress .
The addressbook is a .wab file. Probably the largest file size of those. It's just as easy
to import it.

Hope this helps. Happy Holidays,
don

Just a little more complicated. Create a folder off the root of
the new drive called "Mail", then copy all the files from the old
Outlook Express mail folder into this new folder. Go into
OE and then File/Import/Messages, choose OE6 as the type,
then "Import mail from an OE6 store directory", etc. Should
work fine.
