Gidday,

I suspect that I might have a faulty stick of RAM on one of my servers. My
question is how do I test this or confirm my suspicions?

I have tried the MS Memory Diagnostic tool on this server (
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/Welcome.asp ). It wouldn't even load the
program, so that itself might be an indication. I tested it on 2 desktops
and another server, but unfortunately the other server wasn't the same
brand.

I know I should be able to run Performance Monitor, but I don't have a
baseline as to what it should be and I'm not to sure if Performance Monitor
will tell me if 1 stick of RAM is faulty or not.

What counters do I record for this Memory problem?

Somebody may have, or know of, some utility that will reliabily test ram,
but I've see numerous machines that were suspected of having bad ram that
all oem and other diagnostics said everything was fine, and yet when a stick
was pulled out, everything suddenly started working ok again. Don't know
how many you have in the box, but I'd pull one stick/half of it/third/etc
and see if it works, and then by process of elimination find the bad one.
Hopefully though somebody may know of some utility that will actually work
you can use.

That was my next try, but this being an AD / Mail server this process will
take a long time. But one I will give a go.
