When I start up, I get to the Starting Windows page, but after about 10 bars,
the system loops and restarts itself. This happens over and over. Yesterday
I was able to start in safe mode and disable all unnecessary hardware, and
the system booted after that. Then I added back all the devices one by one
except for the 56K modem (I don't use it so just didn't enable it again) and
rebooted after adding back each one. The system started fine after each time
and seemed to be running smoothly, so I thought maybe it was a hardware issue
with the modem. This morning, the same old problem, except today I couldn't
get it to boot in safe mode. However, it did boot when I selected debugging
mode. I have installed all the latest service packs for Windows 2000. This
does not seem to be a hardware problem to me, but I'm not quite sure what to
make of it. Any suggestions about what to do next?
