Hi all, this appeared a few weeks ago and I have no idea how to attack
it....
We have an IBM 1520 laptop with W2K on it, and for the last few weeks
it never fails to display the boot option menu when booting up. This
isn't the menu to choose the operating system, but rather to select
the options such as "Safe Mode", "Safe Mode with Networking", etc.
After selecting "Normal Boot", a similar menu appears once more after
about another 30 sec or so of processing. Selecting "Normal Boot"
once more allows the system to go on its merry way and load W2K.
I have no idea how to prevent this menu from coming up and am looking
for some help.
I need to add that the majority of the laptop's keyboard is fried as
of a few months ago (the primary user, my daughter, claims
innocence), and we've been using an external keyboard. So perhaps
it's possible that the F8 key is sending some signal during bootup
that causes this menu to appear - I can't prove or disprove this.
Any ideas? Thanks!
Keith.
