I have a legitimate copy of MS Windows 2000 Professional,
but the product key doesn't work. Do they expire after a
certain period of time? How do I contact MS for a new one,
without paying hundreds of dollars to call them?
PLEASE HELP! I NEED to install this because my 98se is
crashing & I can't find the CD that came w/my PC!
Thanks!

There are different Windows 2000 license types, they come with
different CD's and different key structures but finally they
install the "same" operating system (e.g Windows 2000
Professional).
So, you have a key string? Is that the one printed on a sticker
that is attached to your PC box?
And you don't have the Windows 2000 CD?
This page explains possible replacement procedures:

I have the CD in the box & I have the Product Key String
from this exact CD. I can't imagine WHY it wouldn't work!
This is nuts! Thanks! I'll check that link, too.

Greetings --

No, Product Keys don't "expire."

You need to examine the Product Key very carefully. It's awfully
easy to mistake a "B" for an "8," a "G" for a "6," an "S" for a "5,"
or a "Q" for a "0" or "O." Fortunately, Microsoft had the good sense
to leave the "1's," "I's," "O's," and "0's" out of the equation.
Also, be sure that your CapsLock if _off_ while entering the Product
Key.

If your doing an upgrade and the CD has an OEM in the key, you probably in the right church,
but the wrong pew.
