Wondering if anyone knows of an extension for Mozilla that allows one
to edit the 'from' information while in 'compose' mode. This would be
so much easier than doing an 'edit / mail and newsgroup account
settings' and changing the name.

Thanks for any info.

In Thunderbird 1.5, you can try the Virtual Identity extension. That may or
may not be what you want. Be sure to visit the author's homepage. Lots more
info there.

You can also try the Correct Identity extension.

There is also a Thunderbird extension called "TB Change From and Fcc on
Compose Extension", but it is not compatible with TB 1.5. You can try to
make it compatible by editing the file and changing maxversion date.
Sometimes that works, sometimes not, depending on the extension. If you need
instructions how to do that, let me know.

If you're going to do it regularly, and use the same
(new-IYSWIM)'from' information, why not just set up a dummy email
account with this new name/info. Then you can just select from the
drop-down 'from' field whenever you wish to use it instead of your
normal 'from' name/info.
